Opportunity

Gang,

Just a heads up with a family I think we may be able to help out.

A family that Ginny & I know will be moving from here to the Conway area in order to be closer to Children's hospital (we have mentioned them in group before). Their daughter Avery was born 6 weeks ago, and has some severe needs. In fact, it is quite a blessing that she has made it thus far.

They do not know the dates yet, nor have a place to move yet, nor have they rented or sold their current home yet. As you can see, they need some help. I promised them that I would find some folks to rent some trucks, load up their stuff and drive it to them. I am not sure which of that they will take me up on.

Just wanted you to be praying for them, and to be ready for a call. I have no plan. I just couldn't not tell them that we would figure it out.

Here's their blog:

Super Bowl Party

OK, evidently the Super Bowl starts at 5:28. Yall are more than welcome to come anytime around then. We live at 1840 S River Meadows Drive, Fayetteville, AR. To get here I am pretty sure you are coming from somewhere north of here so that will be the only directions I give.

Come down I-540 South and take the Fayetteville Business Exit (71B). Turn Right (South on 71B). Follow College (71B) to Township. Turn left on Township. Take Township to Crossover (Hwy 265). Turn right on Crossover (Hwy 265). Follow Crossover all the way to Huntsville Rd (Hwy 16). Turn left on Huntsville Rd (Hwy 16). Follow Huntsville Rd about a mile and a half to River Meadows Drive (just after the bridge). Turn Right on River Meadows. Follow River Meadows almost to the end, 2nd to last house on the left.

If it is too far, complain to Heather.

As far as what to bring. I was going to designate what everyone needed to bring, but then I got to thinking what if I assigned someone something and someone else may make the same thing, but much better. For example, I could give Mooney's dessert, but what if Finley has a special dessert that I have never experienced. So I will leave it up to you guys to post what you are going to bring in the comments. Sign up for you specialty unless it is already taken. This will be incentive to post quickly. I think the Mooney's have already claimed hamburgers, so that is the theme. Post away.

If you have any questions or get lost. Call me.

Updated Schedule

The schedule is the same as before as far as who is leading the different weeks. We are off on the chapters though. So the Brills will be teaching the 23rd still, they are just going to be starting on Chapter 5 now. Then whoever leads after them will just pick up where they left off.

Sunday, November 2, 2008

I know the plan is meet back again this sunday, Nov. 9. My question is who is leading? Baxter's do you want to lead this Sunday and everyone will get bumped back, or do we want to stick with the dates we signed up for and Baxter's get something on the end? We are good either way, but don't want the dates to mess up anyone else. Let's hear everyone's opinion...

Potter's House service opportunity

Hey folks. Sunday, 10/19, Potter's House will be having a gathering to do several baptisms! Yea! We are wanting to make it into a fun celebration and so thought we'd do dessert & drinks afterwards. I thought our CG might like to provide the yummies. It will be from 3-5pm at the Dwelling Place in Fayetteville. We can talk more details Sunday and decide what we think. Also, if childcare is a problem, there are plenty of rooms at the church to bring kiddos or we could make it a girls thing only & leave kiddos with dads. See you Sunday!

So the below need to figure out how we can get the book to them in time to read before Sunday:

Davidsons
Baxters
Henrys (out of town?)
Robards (out of town)

Read chapters 2 & 3 for Sunday 12th

DATES
Here are a couple of dates to put on your calendar.
#1 is important.  #2 is something to think about.

#1  (November 15)      Beautiful Day       (9am- ???)
This is a day where our group is going out into the community and serving a family that has signed up for help through the Office of Human Concern.  This is a Fellowship Saturday Night-wide event, and we will helping in Fayetteville.  We will be "winterizing" their home in order to help them save money on their bills and keep warm throughout the winter.

The idea is to build a relationship with the family (not just a checkbox project day), and find other ways to assist them.
We need some guy to step up and offer to be the "Project Point Person".  This involves scouting the house before the day and making a list of any equipment we need on the day.
We have been assigned a site, so it is pretty important that we get a feel for who is able to be there and who is not.

#2 (October 29)      Fellowship Saturday Night Street Fest      (6-8pm)
Candy, games, hayrides, costumes.
I thought this could be a great way for our group to hang out all together with all the kiddos.  Just putting it out there to see if we were interested.  Could all ride up together.    Sounds like a lot of fun.
Vote in the poll, so we can see if it is worth getting everyone together!
admission per family:  2 cans of food & a bag of candy
